The Habitat sector in Catalonia

In Catalonia, the habitat sector is made up of 1,468 companies with a linked turnover of 5,006 million euros and employment of 47,584 workers. By segments, taps and toilets (41%) and furniture (26%) lead in our country. This sector represents 2.13% of the Catalan GDP and is made up of 99.52% by SMEs. Three quarters of these companies invoice less than one million euros and almost 26% are exporters.

Catalan companies in the habitat sector export mainly to France, Portugal and Italy. With regard to imports, Catalonia has China, Germany and Italy as the preferred purchasing markets. In any case, ACCIÓ's international business opportunities index points to Italy, France, Denmark, Malaysia and Portugal as the countries with the best prospects for the internationalization of Catalan companies in the sector.
